From UK Rat Race to Backpacking Australia & Travelling NZ in a Van, Meet Nadia Aziz!

Updated: May 15

Hey everyone, i'm Nadia a free spirited soul from England,

I left the UK in 2015 after having enough of being in a mind numbing office, I couldn't take much more of my lifestyle,

Working Monday to Friday to party all weekend in a concrete jungle. I would day dream out the office window imagining sipping on coconuts and having a life of freedom rather than robotic rules.

Despite my boring job I would still have around 3 holidays a year but on the return I would feel so depressed I knew my soul couldn't take much more of it.

I booked a festival ticket to Tomorrowland and that's when everything started to change.

I started questioning why I'm living a life I need a vacation from that's when I made a decision to hand my notice in at work and book a one way ticket to Thailand.

Escaping the comfort zone, that led me to backpacking Australia for 2 years to then buying a one way ticket to new zealand purchasing a camper van and living on the road, I had some wild adventures even lived on a sail boat for some time.

I loved both my home on wheels parking up at whichever beach or waterfall I fancied. To sail boat adventures picking different bays to anchor up at night, jumping in the sea with the sunrise and watching the sea light up with glowing plankton at night. Being rocked gently to sleep with the waves of the ocean. The sail boats electricity was generated by a large solar panel on the top of the boat.

With my dream machine camper van I had a 25 litre water tank I would fill up with drinkable water at "dump stations " which are regularly spotted around New Zealand where you can also empty things like the toilet 🚻 😅

I had a gas cooker in my van which would last me ages and I could cook inside or outside which I loved as some converted vans you have to stand outside to cook which isn't the best if it's raining.

I had battery powered fairy lights and a charging point for my laptop which ran off the battery,

I lived pretty basic with a cool box instead of a fridge as the weather in new Zealand wasn't that hot so the food would last a few days as I was mainly plant based.

Sometimes in extreme cold weather I'd park up at a caravan park so I could plug a Heater into their electric but mainly I was fine with some thick blankets and thick socks.

I have a travel obsession and to be honest don't like working under other people's rules I like to make my own way and let the universe guide me and its led me to some magical places, people and opportunities.

I prefer tropical climates which is why after traveling various countries you can now find me living in the jungle in costa rica. The water I drink here is collected from rain water then gone through filters, we use gas for the cooker and often do fires on the beach and cook there.

I knew I wanted multiple income streams and do a variety of things to keep me going from selling master resell rights courses, to doing tarot readings and subscription pages,

I even do the odd haircut here and there as i'm a previous hairdresser, working for myself has been the best decision I've ever made and I could never return to my old lifestyle as this one is far more magical ✨
